Tino Sehgal is a British-German artist of partly Indian origin, based in Berlin. His works, which he calls “constructed situations”, involve one or more people carrying out instructions conceived by the artist. ‘Constructed situations’ take a fresh approach to gallery spaces and, in turn, demand a new way of looking at and engaging with art. His works can be thought of as living sculptures in which interpreters sing, dance and start conversations according to specific instructions. The Kaldor Public Art Project, is bringing Sagal’s ‘This is so contemporary’ to Sydney in February 2014.
